introduction

What is Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)?
It is one of the most common Pulmonary Embolism conditions which involve the forming of blood clots in a vein deep within the body.
Is it with any relations to atheroclerosis?
Atheroclerosis happens when fatty deposits build up in the blood vessel, and this leads to a higher chance of blood clotting.
 Where is it found at?
Common active sites of DVT include the veins in one’s legs, thighs, pelvis and occasionally the upper body.
Who are more commonly affected by this?
Predominantly the elderly of age 6o years and above, males in particular.
Why is it important that we treat it immediately?
When blood clots form in the veins, it results to a smaller lumen, and with a smaller lumen, blood would need to be pumped at a higher pressure in order to pass through it to get back to the heart. The extra pressure needed would result in the possibility of the person suffering from hypertension (high blood pressure).
